Fixing Favicon Size Error in Webflow

Published on
December 3, 2024

Have you ever tried uploading a favicon into Webflow and it comes back with the error "expected image to be 32 x 32" even though you sized the graphic 32px x 32px in a program like Adobe Illustrator or Figma.

Most likely the problem isn't the size of your image, but where it is on your workspace at the time of export. Sounds crazy right? Well, believe it or not, the coordinates of your artboard matter in this situation with how the file size is read and exported from systems like Adobe Illustrator and Figma. In the end, the fix is quite simple. Your artboard just needs to be placed at a coordinate on your artboard that is even. Think 0,0. 50,50. or 100,100 for the x & y coordinates of your document.

You can follow along in my latest youtube tutorial walking through this issue with Webflow Favicon uploads.

Solution:

Make sure your artboard is placed at an even coordinate location on your document, like 0,0 or 100,100. This will ensure your artboard is exported at it's true size.
